Slurve is a small and modest web design studio based in sunny Montclair, NJ. By small, we mean two people. A husband and wife team, actually. We work side-by-side all day long and still like each other. By modest, we mean that the websites we create are simple yet elegant. Nothing flashy, busy or cluttered. Just a clear message, presented in a simple way. We’re actually quite passionate about this.
We believe that all websites should be accessible to the largest audience possible, regardless of browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari) or platform (Mac, PC). We also believe that users are happiest when they can actually find what they’re looking for on website. With that said, all of our websites are hand-coded with valid XHTML and CSS and conform to current web standards. That may sound a bit geeky, but it’s a good thing. So, who are we?
Tom, born and raised in a scenic American state named New Jersey, spent seven years of his life building web pages for the New York Yankees (Yankees.com) and Major League Baseball (MLB.com). That’s sort of where the term ‘Slurve’ comes from. It’s a baseball term — a combination of a slider and curveball. Nothing more. Just the name of a baseball pitch and a simple, short word that’s fun to say. (Go ahead, say it out loud a few times.) When he’s not making the Interweb a better place, Tom enjoys traveling to foreign countries, listening to The Smiths and taking photographs. Not always in that order, but most of the time.
Jamie, also from the great state of New Jersey, is the pretty face of Slurve. She doesn’t like writing about herself, but she likes to draw things. And she likes to eat pancakes. Often, she’ll draw things while eating pancakes.
